Sunday Mass is at the very heart of the life of a parish. While the priest
presides at the celebration there is also as was encouraged at the Second
Vatican Council, the full, conscious and active participation of the whole
congregation. Many parishioners help out in special ways. Our Lady of the
Rosary has thirty Special Ministers of Holy Communion, twenty-one Scripture
readers and thirty-four young altar servers. A team of cantors help particularly
at 10.30 Mass on Sunday and with the Holy Week ceremonies. Parents of young
children help with the Children's Liturgy at the 10.30 a.m. Mass. Other
parishioners arrange the flowers, clean the Church, wash the altar linen,
clean the sacred vessels and help with collections and in the repository.
Mass is celebrated every day, the Rosary is recited after weekday masses and confessions are heard on Saturdays. The Special Ministers of Holy Communion bring Holy Communion to parishioners who are housebound or in nursing homes; in addition there is an annual Service for the Sick at the church in late September.
